Governor's Common Core Standards Survey
As you are aware, the Governor is asking parents, teachers, community members and other constituency groups to provide input and comment on the Common Core Standards which Utah has adopted as part of the Utah Core Standards. This input is being invited via the following website: utah.gov/governor/standards
ALA Ranked Among Utah's Top 5 Highschools
American Leadership Academy was recently named the fifth-best high school in Utah by U.S. News & World Report.

The ranking is based on scores from Advanced Placement language and math tests and student-to-teacher ratios. Of more than 31,000 public high schools in the nation, 38 from Utah made the best high schools list, and ALA was awarded a silver medal.

Elementary News

Term 1 ends on Wednesday, October 15th. All students will be released early that day, at 12:25 pm.
Fall Break-NO SCHOOL, on October 16th and 17th.
ALA Fall Carnival has been changed to Saturday, October 25th from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Lots of fun for everyone! Come enjoy the games, silent auction and delicious food!
The History Fair is coming...Friday, October 31st! Students may dress up according to the subject they have been studying in Core Knowledge.
The costume themes for the different grades are as follows:
Kindergarten-Dress of Asia, Europe, N. America, S. America and Australia
1st grade: Egypt
2nd grade: War of 1812 or Insects
3rd grade: Vikings
4th grade: Medieval Times or Utah History
5th grade: Civil War
6th grade: Greek (will be participating in the "Greek Olympics") on that day
Halloween "Core Knowledge" parade is coming! Friday, October 31st. Please be in the elementary school gym by 9:25 if you want to see the parade!
