Governor's Common Core Standards Survey
As you are aware, the Governor is asking parents, teachers, community members and other constituency groups to provide input and comment on the Common Core Standards which Utah has adopted as part of the Utah Core Standards. This input is being invited via the following website: utah.gov/governor/standards
Graduation Ceremony -- DVD Recordings for purchase
Mr. Moody and Studio ALA will be on hand during the graduation exercises. They will be producing a DVD of the event. It can be purchased for $7.00. Please contact Mr. Moody for more information.
ALA Ranked Among Utah's Top 5 Highschools
American Leadership Academy was recently named the fifth-best high school in Utah by U.S. News & World Report.

The ranking is based on scores from Advanced Placement language and math tests and student-to-teacher ratios. Of more than 31,000 public high schools in the nation, 38 from Utah made the best high schools list, and ALA was awarded a silver medal.

Buy a dress down for $3. This Friday, Sept. 5 will be a Dress Down Service Day. All donations will go to a past student and teacher here at ALA.

Elementary News

Important Information For All Parents of Elementary Students
In the past ALA has mailed out a set of documents to all parents. This year we will not be mailing these documents using traditional snail mail.
Elementary "Check In Fair" will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, August 5th and 6th!
Students can find out who their teacher is for the upcoming school year when they pick up a "welcome packet" at the entrance to the check in fair. We will also have dress code information available, along with a dress-code approved clothing exchange, where you can purchase clothing items for only $1.00.
Wondering about next fall? "Meet the Teacher" for all elementary students will be on Tuesday, August 12th from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.
The first day of school for 1st - 6th grade will be on Wednesday, August 13th. Kindergarteners will start the following week, Wednesday, August 20th. School will start at 8:40 am.
